Graffiti & Fly Poster Removal

Published on by

The challenge

Westminster City Council put together the Anti Graffiti & Fly Poster Unit (AGFU) in 2002 and wanted to pilot a graffiti & fly poster removal service for 9 months; before letting a 3 year contract. The service involves day-to-day graffiti/poster removal, emergency (12 hour) response and special project work in the diverse environment that Westminster covers.

What did we do

We tendered for the pilot and was successfully chosen from over 15 companies. We delivered the pilot scheme for 9 months, hitting and exceeding the targets in the contract specification. The main contract for 3 years was then tendered and again we were chosen.

The outcome

We worked very closely with Westminster to ensure a smooth delivery of the service in a very difficult environment. The contract specification for the turnaround of work was 5 days - we on average delivered in 2.5 days. Emergency call outs where responded to in less than 4 hours and in some cases within 1 hour; this included politically motivated attacks on embassies and Parliament Square. We were in attendance for special occasions such as the Notting Hill Carnival, May Day Marches etc. Using our 15 years experience we worked with Westminster to apply anti-graffiti & Fly poster coatings to numerous areas to help keep the city clean; this included areas outside Big Ben, China Town, Soho, Shaftesbury avenue, Abbey Road Studios, Australian War Memorial (Hyde Park Corner) and Oxford Street.

"We were most impressed with the response time and result achieved by Community Clean. As a borough we are strongly committed to improving not only the look of the community but also in stamping out all offensive graffiti attacks as quickly as possible.”
