Community Clean – Score New Contract for Wembely Stadium

Community Clean are proud to announce that they have been awarded a prestigious contract from Lead Contractor Permastop of Australia for the removal and management of all graffiti at the new  Wembley Stadium. The contract involves the removal of graffiti from all external and internal areas of the Stadium pre and post events and commenced in March 2007 after the official handover of the stadium.

Community Clean is the sole UK approved subcontractor for Permastop, an Australia based graffiti management specialist. Community Clean was originally introduced to Permastop in 2003 when they were selected from 24 UK contractors by the Permastop CEO Captain Harry Mansson AM to work for the Australian Government on the new Australian War Memorial in Hyde Park Corner, London, which was opened by HM the Queen and Prime Ministers Blair and Howard in November, 2003.

Since then Community Clean has worked closely with Permastop on a highly successful anti-graffiti coating testing program for the Wembley Stadium builders Multiplex Constructions, involving the Stadium pre-cast wall panels and other areas, leading up to the maintenance contract for the new Stadium owners, Wembley National Stadium Limited. Permastop has a long history in the specific field of sports stadium graffiti protection  and management going back to involvement with Stadium Australia in Sydney for the 2000 Olympics and in Athens for 2004, plus a multitude of other clients, notably the Australian Railways.

The contract was won in competition with six companies chosen to tender for it and as a result of our considerable experience, ability to meet service level agreements and the cost-effective pricing.

The hallowed turf of Wembley Stadium has long fuelled the British passion as the home of football and been recognised as the venue of legends. From the First FA Cup Final held there in 1923, to the 1948 Olympics, to the epic English victory in the 1966 World Cup, the Stadium has created many amazing memories.

“We are delighted to be involved in this project, particularly with the heritage associated with Wembley,” said Andy Izzard, Technical Director, Community Clean.
