Rallying round to improve area

The community clean up day we took part in received rave reviews. This is the article printed in the Bucks Examiner after the event;

Members of various community organisations joined forces to clean up Pond Park in Chesham.

Chiltern District Council, Bucks County Council, Thames Valley Police and Bucks Fire and Rescue Service were joined by residents and volunteers on Saturday afternoon to rid the area of rubbish and smarten it up.

More than 100 items of furniture, 50 white goods and 25 televisions and computer monitors were collected, graffiti was removed from fences and bus shelters and litter was cleared up.

Police Community Support Officers were also on hand to give out crime reduction advice and councillors were there to answer questions from residents.

Chesham Town Councillor Derek Lacey said; "There were three lorries going round all day picking up furniture and we had about 12 litter pickers from the probation service - thanks must go to them because they really worked hard.

"It was absolutely fantastic and I am really pleased. I would like to thank everybody who came along and helped."
