In the centre of the UK’s biggest cities and London in particular, drugs and graffiti are causing a real problem amongst the youth and those living in these inner city areas. One particular Borough that has faced some hard challenges with regards to these problems recently is the London Borough of Islington.
After experiencing a rise in the cases of vandalism and particularly graffiti in the local areas on buildings or around local teenage ‘hangouts’, the Council decided to look for two bespoke vehicles to deal with both the problems.
They initially looked for one that could be used for graffiti removal and then another one that can be used one for drugs response. You may think these two services are fairly diverse when you actually get down to the specifics of what is needed, but through research the local Council were insightful enough to see that the two issues were actually very closely related and linked. It was discovered that once an individual or group is involved in one of these illegal activities there is a high correlation leading to the other. This correlation prompted the Council to decide that both vehicles should be built and developed by the same company.
After looking at many graffiti removal companies, they hired an experienced company to design and build these machines. The company they were looking for needed to have previous experience in dealing with street graffiti and vandalism. Once a company had been chosen the vehicles were commissioned and were then built on schedule and to the expected standards. The vehicle and all of its capabilities were specified so that the vehicle would be reliable and provide optimum results, especially the jet wash unit. This unit is a very quiet, reliable, high performance piece of equipment that is fully adjustable whilst being highly efficient.
Implementing these two vehicles has helped Islington Council to provide a warm, safe and inviting area for local residents to enjoy. The Council is now able to act quickly should incidents of graffiti vandalism occur. Islington Council have also implemented some of the highly efficient anti-graffiti coatings recommended to them to help reduce any future damage and shorten the cleaning process in future.
