Southend-on-Sea Council Outsource Graffiti Service

The challenge

Following a stringent tender process, we have been selected by Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, despite tough competition, to deliver their graffiti removal contract over four years. The work was previously undertaken in-house and the council were looking to out-source to save money and resources.

What did we do

Contract mobilisation quickly got underway, including new vehicles,
equipment and IT. The council staff were seamlessly tuped over and training began. The teams made a great start, ensuring that all reported graffiti is removed quickly and efficiently. A considerable amount of time and effort went in to correcting previous bad practise, with over 70% of the graffiti now being removed and not painted out. Proactive work has been implemented, including anti-graffiti protection for 'hot spot' areas as an added value service.

The outcome

We continue to receive excellent feedback on our service delivery and
were thrilled when the council won several prestigious awards at the 'Clean Britain Awards' ceremony. Special recognition was made that during their inspections they found hardly any graffiti in evidence.

proactive approach to known and emerging graffiti hotspots. Their work and graffiti removal knowledge has resulted in improved NI195 standards for Southend, fewer resident reports being received as well
as high praise from local community groups, Police and other agencies for having graffiti removed so promptly. "
