Community Clean has won the Parapet Painting Contract for Hampshire County Council, the contract is for 10 locations around the Hampshire Area. The work got underway yesterday and will commence by removing any vegetation from the areas, the parapets will then be prepared to remove all flaky paint, down to a sound paint or metal in preparation for the application of the paint system.
Several of the locations are over a river or riverbeds and to ensure that no debris enters the watercourse, the area will be tented or shrouded off. Traffic and pedestrian management will be put in place, by trained operatives, in accordance with CDM and HSE regulations to ensure the safety of the operatives and the general public.
Having prepared the area, we will use a 4 coat paint system. The paint system is Highways Authority approved and the colour has been chosen by the client. The first coat is a pre-treatment primer for galvanised steel to ensure the adhesion of the subsequent paint system. The second coat is a two-pack, zinc phosphate, epoxy blast primer / sealer, followed by a third coat of a two-pack, MIO high-build, quick drying epoxy undercoat and finally finished with the top coat of a two-pack, acrylic polyurethane finish.
We will keep you updated on our progress and add photos as the project moves forward.
