Welcome to the Spring edition of the Community Clean Newsletter

After the challenges of a cold dreary winter we look forward to the more cheerfull conditions of a British spring. Despite all the British weather could throw at us early in 2009, our staff "stepped up to the plate" to ensure our customers continued to receive the very best of service, indeed all work was completed in budget and on time.

We are pleased to say that the company continues to grow, becoming stronger both commercialy and financially, with some very interesting projects recently undertaken; we have had a team "monkeying around" and another taking regular cruises, more later in this issue.

2009 presents us all with considerable challenges but the Directors and staff at Community Clean face them with confidence, assured that we will continue to prosper and grow. We wish you the same good fortune over the coming months.

CASE STUDY:
Subway Refurb

The challenge:

Community Clean is proud to work with TfL North to refurbish and restore over 120 of their pedestrian subways.

As part of our on-going subway refurbishment and maintenance service, our job is to bring each subway up to a high standard, making them easier to maintain in the future and improving peoples perception to promote a feeling of safety and cleanliness.

What did we do:

Community Clean has drawn on many years of experience and the latest innovations to achieve the best results.

Services include; the application of durable anti-graffiti systems to provide surfaces that are easy to clean and maintain for years to come, durable anti-slip epoxy flooring, the application of industrial coatings for longevity (ICATS), stainless steel security mirrors that are vandal proof and graffiti proof, replacement wall tiles, rendering repairs, deep cleaning and deodorising.

The outcome:

The results are clear - cleaner, safer and easier to maintain surfaces!

The project continues to be delivered on time and in budget and we are pleased to be involved with the other refurbishment projects for the network.

NEWS: ICATS Success!

The ICATS scheme is a new comprehensive structured training scheme for the training, certification and registration of industrial surface preparation and coating operatives.

Community Clean has over 14 years experience in the preparation and application of industrial coatings and anti-graffiti systems; including managing and commissioning artistic murals.  Our Operations Director, Martin Izzard, successfully completed the course in 2008 and gained certification as an ICATS trainer. Martin is now qualified to train and assess operatives for individual certification as Industrial Coating Applicators. The training of our operatives is well underway and we are working towards all site staff having the certification.

Community Clean is an ICATS accredited company that is supported by the Highways Agency, Network Rail, BCSA, The British Coating Federation and its member paint manufacturers, Consulting Engineers, Local Government and Structural Engineering Specifiers. ICATS is also supported by CITB and the scheme aligns with the NVQ assessment requirements for industrial painting.

NEWS: The team takes a cruise!

Community Clean was very pleased to be awarded the Graffiti & Fly-Posting Removal contract by Isle of Wight Council. The contract commenced on 1st March 2009 and the team has made a great start.

We have recruited on the Island and a full training programme is currently underway. Additional work is already being discussed and we look forward to developing a strong working relationship with the council.

NEWS: Monkeying around!

Take a trip to Monkey World this Spring and see the excellent work Community Clean has been doing around the Orangutan Nursery.

The work involved has resulted in an area that is cleaner and easier to maintain for the future.
